When I first started off in the world of photography my only tool was an entry level DSLR, a canon 450d and a 18-55mm lens. I loved it and the pictures it produced. Photography wasn't a "job" to me back then I did it for fun and carried my camera with me everywhere I went. I feel like I started to lose that a little once I invested in professional cameras and lenses for work. I'm a little scared about carrying those cameras around with me on a day to day basis.
Once I switched from a blackberry to an iphone5 I found I took my cameras out with me less and less. During the summer holidays my little girl and I got into a routine of watching cartoons in bed in the morning. I really cherished this time and toward the end of the holiday I decided to dust off my old faithful 450D and leave it by my bed so I could capture our morning. What surprised me more than anything else is how much I realised I missed using that camera. It isn't as fast, big or crisp as my other cameras but some how the noise and imperfections make the images beautiful to me.
I have used this camera to capture lots of special moments over the years. I know its a little early for new years resolutions but I made a promise to carry my little DSLR with me always from now on, just like I used to.
With the wonderful world of social media, especially instagram it does feel like everything exists to end in a photograph at times and whilst using my iphone5 is great working with my cameras is something so so special to me.
